Reports circulating on social media allege that Zakir Naik, the Indian Muslim preacher, is suffering from AIDS. Naik, who is currently in Malaysia and wanted by India, has responded to these claims through his legal representative. His lawyer stated that the rumors are unfounded and intended to undermine Naik. A report by Sinar Daily indicated that Naik, through his lawyer, has denied the accusations and has rejected the claims of having AIDS. The lawyer also addressed claims about Naik undergoing treatment for AIDS at a private hospital in Klang Valley, calling these claims baseless. Naik’s lawyer has accused certain individuals of attempting to defame Naik. They are currently working to identify the individuals responsible, and legal action will be taken against anyone spreading these rumors from Malaysia. The initial allegations surfaced on September 8th when a social media user, Fatima Khan, posted about Naik’s alleged condition. This triggered a wave of posts related to Naik. Naik has been out of the public eye for the past 10 months. His last public remarks were in November 2024, when he answered questions about India and Hinduism. Naik left India in 2016 and now holds Malaysian citizenship. He is wanted by India on charges of terrorism and money laundering. In a previous interview in Pakistan, Naik cited his fear of returning to India as the reason for residing in Malaysia.
