The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s attire at the Oval Office meeting on Monday presented a notable change. His appearance, featuring a black jacket and a dark collared shirt, marked a departure from his customary military-style T-shirt. This shift in wardrobe seemed to be a reaction to prior criticism he received during a February visit to Washington, where his outfit was the subject of mockery. Zelenskyy has consistently worn military garb since the 2022 Russian invasion to symbolize solidarity with the Ukrainian military. This time, his appearance was refined, with improved coordination, despite the absence of a tie. A reporter complimented Zelenskyy’s suit during the bilateral meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents. The reporter acknowledged his earlier criticism of Zelenskyy’s clothing choice in February. He then apologized for his prior remarks, praising Zelenskyy’s current look. Zelenskyy was asked about his willingness to hold elections in Ukraine following a potential peace agreement. He responded affirmatively, emphasizing that the elections must be conducted under safe conditions.
