At a dinner with tech leaders, Donald Trump hinted that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, might be considering a move into American politics. The discussion took place at the White House. During the dinner, a reporter asked Zuckerberg about the issue of freedom of expression in the UK, which seemed to make him uncomfortable. Trump responded by saying this was the start of Zuckerberg’s political career, to which he would become more comfortable with public speaking. This mirrors the involvement of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, in politics alongside Trump. Zuckerberg, who is 41 years old and from New York, responded that he wasn’t expecting the line of questioning. The dinner also saw Zuckerberg express thanks to Trump and announce an investment of $600 billion by Meta by 2028. The dinner aimed to discuss the function of tech companies in the AI era. Elon Musk, though invited, was represented at the meeting by someone else.
